Special Envoy – Aeropolitical Affairs at International Air Transport Assocciaation
Raphael Kuuchi is an aviation professional with several years’ experience in air transport operations, management and consulting. His experience span working for airlines, the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in various senior positions. After 9 years of work with AFRAA as Director Commercial, Corporate & Industry Affairs, Raphael joined IATA in 2014 as Vice President for Africa.
Since July 2018, he assumed a new role as IATA Special Envoy to Africa on Aero-political Affairs. His focus now is leading IATA engagements with top government, regional and industry leaders in driving key continental aviation initiatives aimed at unlocking the full potential of African aviation. He is a focal point on the implementation of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) and works closely with the African Union Commission (AUC), African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), Regional Economic Communities (RECs), African Development Bank (AfDB) and regional aviation organisations.
Raphael holds an MBA from Henley Management College, UK and a first degree in Business Administration from the University of Ghana Business School. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (FCILT), UK.
